Developing an Attitude of Gratitude – Day 175

Today I went to school and worked in the auditorium supporting music education. One of the elementary schools in my area rehearsed their music program in the morning and then performed this evening. I am grateful for the music education I have received throughout my life. I am grateful for listening to symphonies with my Grandpa White and with my mom on old records. I am grateful for the year of piano lessons I got from Shirley Carey and I kind of wish I had practiced more. I am grateful for the music teachers I had in school who inspired and encouraged me. I am grateful for the many ways my mom sacrificed to get me voice lessons in high school. I am grateful for the private instructors I had in college. Music has shaped me into the person I am today. Music helped me to learn how to read (I didn’t read well until the end of my 3rd grade year). Music helped me to find my voice and gave me confidence. It makes me so sad the many in education do not see the value of music and dram in education. Frankly, I believe firmly that test score rise when students are exposed to the performing arts.

Today I went to school and helped students learn about self expression by helping in theatre classes. I am grateful I have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of kids. I sure hope I truly am. I am grateful how theatre is a driving force in my life and a major source of inspiration to help me be a a better and empathetic person. I am grateful that theatre helps me feel empowered.

Today I studied some scriptures. Now this is the real thing that has shaped my life. I am so grateful for the gospel of Jesus Christ. I am grateful for my testimony. I am grateful for my faith. The Lord is my strength. The Lord is my reason. I sure hope my choices honor Him.

  1. This evening our senior in high school shared with me that in answering an inquiry of:”What is something about you that might surprise others?” our Sina answered, “I REALLY LOVE watching musicals, live theatre, plays… I really am into it.” Followed by, “Momma Wendy and you really gave me that gift. So many people are missing out. I’mglad I know how to respond correctly to live performances and I really like them”
(The spark to her sharing was my sharing the opportunity I took today to teach over 100 5th graders how to properly respond to live performances….I even quizzed them to makesure they knew and encouraged them to share the rules of proper audience etiquette.👍🏻😘)
