Yesterday I served at school… I served at home… I served random people along my path. It was a good day.
Jesus taught: “Honour thy father and mother.” —Matthew 15:4
We shouldn’t wait for Mother’s Day or Father’s Day to express our love to our parents. We can show appreciation year-round by serving them and living the way they taught us to live.
Today I honor my parents. My parents taught me about service.. My dad was a firefighter and worked with the Red Cross. I think I saw him serving nearly every day I lived at home. He served in the church. He served in family. My mom was always serving, Many days I remember taking meals to someone, or working on projects for others. She serves endlessly in the church. She served in her community as a teacher. In fact, both of my parents run around nearly every day serving the little old ladies in their ward.
I think the best thing I can do to honor my parents is to be like them. To honor my parents I need to serve as they serve.
