Wow! So sick. I have not been this kind of sick in a very long time. My act of kindness has been to stay home. Kind to myself and kind to others. No one else needs this germ. It's not good. I wonder how many more days will it have me knocked out...
Yesterday I was there to witness the birth of my grandson, Holland Maitland Jessop. My daughter, his mom, is a warrior! Her labors and deliveries are much faster than mine ever were. She really “labored” all day in what experts call pre-labor. It is a labor that is uncomfortable, makes you super tired, and moves you toward the real thing but it isn’t a labor that doctors start getting excited about. Around 3 ‘clock she sent me a text stating that the contractions were 7-8 minutes apart and were lasting about 1 minute long. Her last two babies went fast, so Iii knew we were in business. I quickly turned on the sound board at school so that they were ready for a choir concert later in the evening, before texting Lilli to hurry to the car. When we arrived at Kimber’s house the contractions were coming a bit faster. …

Letting go of stuff today.
It has taken me a few years, but I have finally figured out what it means to be happy.
It really is that simple. The Lord teaches that wickedness never was happiness and he teaches happiness is actually a choice.
How does one choose happiness?
Let go. That’s how you do it. Let go of the things that don’t make you happy. Let go of all things you don’t want or need. Let go of bad habits. Let go of peer pressure. Let go of poisonous thoughts and feelings. Let go of negative people in your life. Let go of unrealistic expectations.
It isn’t easy to let go. You can do it!
Here are some ideas of things you can let go of for the happiness you seek:
Let go of needing to know what will happen next and the need to be right. The need to be…

Man! Still fighting this illness. Pay back for slipping up is no fun!
Okay.. Last week wasn’t the best in eating. It’s not like I went crazy and ate a bag of M&M. In fact, I didn’t eat sugar. I didn’t drink soda. I didn’t eat a steak. I just didn’t eat the whole foods and veggies I normally do. I didn’t take the time for a veggie based breakfast. I didn’t take the time to make a salad for lunch. I ate “out” a couple of times. OH… and I didn’t take pictures of any of my foods.
You see, I was super busy with the close of my show. I wasn’t home 2 Saturdays in a row to prep my week. I wasn’t home at dinner time to make food. As a result, I ate in an unhealthy vegetarian manner. Crackers… some cheese… a piece of cheese pizza… a veggie burrito that someone brought me and forgot to take off the…

I love these thoughts and ideas.
I have been living and breathing the story of Lion King over the past few months. I had the honor of directing Lion King Jr at a local school. I cherished the opportunity to bring to life one of my favorite stories… a story full of symbolism and meaning… a story that strengthens my faith.
While some may dismiss Disney’s masterwork, The Lion King, as a children’s story, they fail to see that, like most fairy-tales, it contains deep themes. A couple of these themes truly stand out for me. This is completely what the story says to me and really had no reflection on the people at Disney.
First, I’d like to suggest that the characters themselves are symbols in this story. Even the meanings of their names in Swahili give us insight into this story.
Mufasa = Jesus
Rafiki = the Holy Ghost or prophets; means friend

I get a ton of questions about how I painted the floor for Lion King Jr. Here is the secret: I used feather dusters. I feather duster is a great way to create a subtle textured effect. I start with a base. For Lion King Jr I choose two base colors; one base for the… Continue reading Dusting the Floor
