A Warrior sees the Divine Design

Yesterday I read talk by Elder Ronald A. Rasband entitled By Divine Design. As I read I couldn’t help but think how a Warrior understands the Divine Design, embraces it, and lives it.

In this talk he talked about how there are no “coincidences with God… things happen by “divine design.” Now, that is not to say that we don’t have agency in this life. We do. We get to choose whether or not we are going to act on the things God puts in our path. We get to choose to follow the Savior or to not follow Him. We get to choose to follow His chosen leaders or to not follow them. We get to choose to follow the whispering of the Spirit or to not follow them. We choose… even if He has a divine design blaring loud before us.

I was most impressed with this thought: “No trial or calamity can derail God’s plan of happiness.” I love this thought. My soul jumped with joy as I re-read this thought. First of all, the divine design is all about happiness, not something designed to hold us back, frustrate us, or even trip us up. In fact, God really is in the little things of life. And all those little things can lead to happy thoughts…. if that is what we choose. I think the trick seeing the hard moments as signs that the Lord”has confidence in [me] and in [my] choices.”

“I will go before your face. I will be on your right hand and on your left, and my Spirit shall be in your hearts, and mine angels round about you, to bear you up.”

Changes in plans are not something I did wrong or that anything is wrong. Changes in plans are first steps to a new adventure. God really does know me and He really does watch over me. He knows my family and friends and He watches over them. Are we all willing to see that and recognize this truth? Are we willing to follow the “divine design” even if it takes a turn we are not ready for?

The thing is, all things really do work together for my good… even the hard things.

A Warrior understands this…
