An Attitude of Gratitude Experiment 2.0 Day 4

Today is my 31st anniversary. What crazy ride the past 31 years have been. Today I am grateful for my husband… who as I am writing this post is in the kitchen doing the dishes because he can and because he knows I hate washing dishes.

One thing I have learned over the past 31 years is that gratitude is good for your marriage. The one thing I know for sure is that expressing gratitude for your spouse helps everything – especially helps to develop a more positive perception of them. We have had our share of rough road along this journey. However, my first experiment with gratitude helped me change my perspective as I practiced expressing gratitude more often. I also learned that the simple act of expressing my gratitude for something led to John repeating said action… dishes for example.

Expressing gratitude creates an “up draft” of positive actions where we are both feeling uplifts. It’s a win/win.

Today I am grateful for the white roses he got me, and the chat in the car, in the dark, looking at the river while we ate Mexican take out. I am grateful for one more year to work on getting it right.

Today I am grateful that Hannah and Lilli ran around with me to the Dollar General, a craft store and Target for my wild hair Christmas projects.

Today I am grateful for rain… and how cool it sounds on my roof over my deck John created for me. I am grateful he is willing to take on new projects and to learn new skills to create nice spaces at our house.

What are you grateful for today?

  1. Such a beautiful post and i could only hope one day my relationship gets better and turns into 30+ years of marriage. Expressing gratitude though is definitely a must šŸ™ if you don’t then your other half starts feeling pretty shitty about them selves. I love your post though šŸ˜€, I was actually curious if you would be interested in writing a post about adopting a family for the holidays. Another blogger put together a wonderful post and im hoping to spread as much love and healing light towards this family to help them have an amazing Thanksgiving. Check out her article https://leverageambition.com/2020/11/22/sponsor-the-turrell-family-this-holiday-season-get-closer-to-god-by-giving/
And let me know if you have any questions I would be happy to answer them. Look forward to collaborating on this amazing venture

      1. Shari turrell is a single mom of two kids, her husband passed away in 2007. She started her own company doing events, nothing crazy just things that would help build memories for people. She grew up in Vegas so she knew another of vendors and could get things at a discounted price. She is also a big believer in creating memories because we never take material things with us when we pass. So when the pandemic happened she had just moved out of her house because it had a black mold problem. She had plans to rent another home, events lined up for the summer and the rest of the year etc. Well then the pandemic happening ed instead of finding a home she was using the money in savings and what she had gotten back to try and survive. Her son had just moved to Washington to pursue culinary school up there. So it was just her and her 16 year old daughter. She had filed for unemployment and had provided the state of Nevada with all her proof and then some. By this point she was living in her car with her daughter. After her daughter had suffered a heat stroke she had to send her to stay with her brother because she just couldn’t care for her the way she wanted to. This alone broke her heart to have to do this. She continued waiting and waiting on unemployment. Finally in July she was approved and set for deposit. Her case manager finished it all on a Friday, that Monday a new case worker came in. Canceled her payment, flagged her as fraud and denied her from the program. This gentleman then had an internal investigation opened up against him and any other cases he may have mismanaged. Its been a huge ordeal. Shari had been attacked multiple times in her car while parked in parks at night. She mentally has been put through the wringer. Detr had her file an appeal and then it took two months to respond only to tell her she will get a hearing sometime next year. This woman has lost everything because of nevadas corrupt unemployment system and lost all faith in everything. She finally went to Washington for a job interview and I do believe she got it. So now while she tries to rebuild her life all over again. I just want to show them that people care and they do have a heart and that this year the holidays are not going to be lonely there not going to be scary. Let’s show them that their is a light at the end of the tunnel. http://www.gofundme.com/bringthisfamilybacktogether
