#bethelight – Day 62

When I started #bethelight 62 days ago I felt good.  I felt like I was making the world a better place, one act of kindness at a time.  Working on #bethelight made my holiday season memorable!

Recently, I read an old Chinese proverb.

“If you want happiness for an hour – take a nap.  If you want happiness for a day – go fishing.  If you want happiness for a year – inherit a fortune.  If you want happiness for a lifetime – help someone else.”

Amen!

Now… as today is New Year’s Day most of you are thinking about starting the year off right!  You are making New Year’s Resolutions.  Have you ever succeeded with “resolutions?”  I haven’t.  I think we need a stronger word than “resolution,” a word that truly holds me accountable to my goals.

I will have to think on that…

… Maybe the word we need is accountability…

Blogging about my goals has helped me to be FAR more SUCCESSFUL in all of them.  I wanted accountability…. so I blog every day.  I blog about my health goal – to eat more healthy… I am successful.  I am more healthy and I’ve lost nearly 100# in the last 9 months.  I blog about thinking positive; I blog about my hobby/job in theatre; I blog about passions and thought; I blog about what makes me happy.  My attitude has improved in leaps and bounds!  I blog about my family and I am more connected to them.  I blog about random acts of kindness.  I am seeing more need now and finding the time to act on the needs I see.   I had goals set in place to help me develop myself into a better person.  I’ve had these goals a million times over my life time.  This time, I am successful because I am accountable… at least to the “universe” and to the few readers that take the time to read my humble blog.

This New Year’s Day I am not making New Year’s resolutions.  This New Year’s Day I am Renewing my accountability.

So… if you have a desire to eat healthier, spend more time with family, learn a new skill, or volunteer in a soup kitchen, go ahead and make it happen.  Tell people about your goal, your mission for 2018.  Maybe they will join you!

Today, the first day of 2018, I will find someone to serve.  I will serve them without reservation and with no expectation of return.  Today, I will be accountable for my mission to #bethelight in a world of darkness so that others can find the light… a light that has always been there.

Join me!
