I usually dislike my birthday. I start the day and by the end it isn’t what I thought it was going to be.
Today was a little different. I had to be out the door by 7am because that was when Lilli needed to head to school and Hannah had to have my car for the day because her car was busted. So, I was at the mercy of people carting me around. On top of that, I started my first period in a year. Joy. And I had an event in the auditorium in the morning, classes, rehearsal and an event in the evening. I was prepared for a long day.
I saw Jeff first thing at school and ask how my day was… well, I told him, it can only go up.
John made a video and brought attention to the fact that it was my birthday, 4 people brought me a chai tea throughout the day, Jeff bought me lunch, a lady from the district office came to check on me personally because my grade book wouldn’t let me in, a phone call from my brother Paul and from my best pal Joanna, texts and Facebook messages from dozens of other people, and flowers from my sister when I got home. So it turned out to be a good day… even with cramps.
I am thankful for all the thoughtful people who reached out today.
I am grateful for cars that work and for a simple fix for Hannah’s car.
I am thankful John did the dishes.
I am thankful for a really good day as a teacher today.
