November Report

November came and went in a big hurry.  It started with auditions for Central High School’s winter production of Oklahoma! to be performed in February.  Since Hannah was auditioning I made it a point to help other students, but to stay away from decision making with the audition process.  I was so proud of everyone that auditioned that I had spent lunch time and after school time to help get ready.  I was so proud of them all.  Hannah did audition exceptionally well and earned the role of Laurie in the production.

Then, for a few weeks I worked extra hours at the high school doing all the tech work for the local elementary school fall productions.  I set them up, run sound and lights and lock the school up safely when all is said and done.  It is fairly simple work and it helps out the old budget – especially with Christmas coming up.

One fun Sunday we noticed the house around the corner was aflame.  It was being used as an educational burn for the local fire department.  They actually burned down two buildings on the property… an old white house and rickety old barn structure.

John and Lillian went and joined the neighbor families and watched to the fun from across the street.  They said the heat was very strong and that although they were across the street they were toasty warm.

Kimber and Ray blessed the beautiful little Freya on the first Sunday.  My parents were able to come for the blessing.  Freya wore the blessing dress my mom for Kimber’s blessing, including a slip made from the left over fabric from my wedding dress.  It was fun to have so many people there that love little Freya and to be able to take this 4 generation picture.

Hannah’s Young Women’s group went to a trivia night at the Yeasty Beasty (a pizza place) and won some prizes.  Since they also serve beer and stuff, the prizes were all beer related.  I found the irony rather funny.

I made a model for the Oklahoma! set.  It was a hit~!  I am very excited about this set.  I am hanging a real swing from the rafters and creating a false proscenium with giant trees.  It will be fun to report on how that all progresses.

I continued to help with the make up and tech theater class.  Lillian likes to go with me so she gets her school work done quickly so that she can go.  She loves to design make up plates and even loves to be a make up model for students who need a model for their graded application.  Her, she designed this husky dog make up and the student followed her design.
We also played many days with Freya and Ben.  We sure love having them close enough to spoil!

McKay, Myles and Lenayah came to visit for Thanksgiving.  We were all super excited.  Uncle Taps had been gone in California for work and got to meet both angels on the same day.

When they were first put on the floor to play together Freya started to cry.  This led Lenayah to cry too.  However, by the time they were done visiting they loved to look at each other and squeal and coo. I think the problem was that Freya wasn’t a fan of tummy time.  I am happy to report that she is getting better at it and today was quite the chatter box on the floor with an other little person on the floor at RS.

Since the Maxey family could only come for Thanksgiving and would be going to New Mexico for Christmas break, we had a “Maxey (mini) Christmas.”  The Friday after Thanksgiving we rushed out and got a Christmas tree.  We got up Saturday in the traditional Christmas way and opened stockings and the presents to and from McKay and Myles.  We made pancakes to look like snowmen too.  It was so much fun!

Now we are ready for December and the end of a great year!  In a few days I will wrap 2014 and welcome 2015.
