Lessons from Addams Family… Round Two
As I work on the next show and begin a new show, I look fondly to the lessons learned in and the people I worked with on Addams Family. What a fantastic experience!
Resigning as the General Manager of the Universe
Before I begin I must give credit to my friend, and talented photographer, John Bruning, for the excellent photos of our process and production. His talents and contributions for our theatre program can not be measured. He is truly a valuable member of our team!
We recently (well, a month ago) closed our production of Addams Family – the Musical. I love our little production team! Jeff, Linda and I have been working together for many years. We counted recently and discovered that I have worked with Jeff on 35 show (and counting) at school and at least 8 community theatre show. Jeff and Linda have worked together for 28 shows and most of them with me along for the ride. We are a force to be reckoned with!

A Warrior Never Looks Back
Moving forward one step at a time… who has time to look back?!
Resigning as the General Manager of the Universe

Everyone makes mistakes. Life is all about choices… good, bad, and the ugly. Right or wrong, your destiny will unfold according to the choices we make. Why choose to live in the past where everything has already happened. Why not embrace the current day?! Today is a blessing, where everything is possible. Trial and difficulties of the past do not need to define you… to weigh you down.

Adulting 101 –
This is a great “rule” of thumb. Still love this thought!
Resigning as the General Manager of the Universe
Perhaps you have heard the saying, “measure twice, cut once.” This is a phrase I use all the time in a scene shop. However, I am finding more and more students “come close” and yet, “close” is not really good enough. It is just guessing. The consequence of “guessing” is wasted material… and money… You cut wood improperly and a piece is ruined. It’s faster to double-check than to make a mistake.
I am happy to report that measuring and reading a ruler using whole inches is a solid skill among most of the teenagers I encounter. Most are even competent using quarters, halves, and three-fourths on a measuring tool. However, the majority have forgotten what they learned in grade school about how to read eighths and sixteenths on a ruler or a tape measure.
Now the the kids I work with don’t see this as a problem. They think…

First Week of the Holiday Season – Success!
I am truly loving this adopted lifestyle of mine. I kind of wish more people eat like this.
Resigning as the General Manager of the Universe
Last week was a crazy good week of eating! I succeeded in staying away from unhealthy, inflammation causing foods. Although I had a couple days of horrible leg cramps, I made it through Thanksgiving and actually LOST weight! When does that happen?
Monday looked like this:
Jamba Juice for breakfast; a yummy salad with a homemade dressing for lunch; and a yummy Mushroom and Barley soup for dinner. Click here for the recipe.

Expect the Unexpected
Still thinking about this one. Prayers are always answered…. even if the answer was not what we expected.
Resigning as the General Manager of the Universe
I have been pondering prayer and receiving answers to prayers this past week.
I think of the things I prayer for… greater faith, love, holiness, wisdom, discernment, God’s grace, courage, patience, the joy that only God can grant along with the basic daily needs my family and I stand in need of each day… and I think of the times my answer was not what I expected.

The thing is, I know that God answers prayers. I know that God loves me and that He loves those I love. I know God truly knows me; he knows me better than I know myself. God knows what is best for ALL of His children. However, we can’t help it. We often have unrealistic, romantic ideas and expectations of what God’s answers to our prayers will be.
We are often unprepared for the answers we receive from God. I think God has…

#bethelight – Day 30
Yesterday was crazy busy! I had no time to plan and prep healthy food. Lucky for me the local restaurant I chose had a vegetarian meal. All I had to do was replace the cheese. It was tasty. AND I helped out a family owned business! For today, I will help others find the positive.… Continue reading #bethelight – Day 30
#bethelight – Day 29
I tried very hard with the listening yesterday. Some days are harder than others. 🙂 Today I will eat local. Local families work hard to create a business and support their families. Local restaurants are good too! Today I will give the family owned restaurants a little business. #bethelight Join me!
28 Years and Counting
Still moving forward… 28 years is a while. 🙂
Resigning as the General Manager of the Universe
So… Today is my anniversary… married 28 years.
I’ve spent some time looking through old pictures. Ah… memories! We have had some eventful years! So many lessons learned! Some lessons tested our marriage. All lessons add strength, personally and as a unit. Some lessons brought great happiness and a few sadness in those 28 years. All of our experiences together have taught me that I have found a person that makes me want to be a better person.

A Week of Thankful Boyacks
We’ve been busy! Check it out!
Resigning as the General Manager of the Universe
This is always a big week around our house. First, there is my birthday… one year older, but not to sure about wiser. My birthday was like any other day. Later in the week I spoiled myself and got a hair cut. Too bad I can never get my hair to look as nice as it does when I leave the hair stylist! John took me to see a movie and out to dinner for my birthday too.

I’ve been working on my #bethelight efforts. One of my favorites was when we went to Jamba Juice and left a big tip… read this to know more about that… #bethelight – Day 21
