Developing an Attitude of Gratitude – Day 405

Today some new thoughts as I pondered the ever famous “go and do” scripture of 1 Nephi 3:7. Going is actually showing up. Can’t have “an experience” if you never show up. Doing is participating. It’s pretty hard to enjoy an experience when we don’t participate. How many things have I missed because I didn’t bother to show up? How many experiences could I have improved if I had bothered to be fully present, fully engaged. Sure. Lots in life is considered a “hard thing” (1 Nephi 3:5), but most of the good I have came because it was hard, because I had to work for it. From my family, to my work, my greatest joy and my greatest success came because I tried and kept working at it. My best spiritual experience have come because I showed up and I actively participated (tried and did) what the Lord was encouraging me to do.

Motto for the day, week, year, life:

I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for I know that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them (1 Nephi 3:7).

So today I am going to make a greater effort to be where I need to be and once I am there I am going to be fully engaged in the activity at hand, know that God provides everything I need to be successful.

Today I am grateful that I was able to find all the music I needed for my World Theatre performance and put it in order in the two hours I had in the morning before work and it still left me with enough time to ponder a scripture, start my blog, dress and collect food for the day.

I am grateful the rehearsal for the one acts got finished at a reasonable hour and that I got the light cues for the world theatre class done in 45 minutes. Sure hope they work. We tech them tomorrow.
