#gratitude, gratitude

An Attitude of Gratitude Experiment 2.0 Day 2

Truth!

Today I am grateful for the Sabbath. The Sabbath is often accused of being a day full of rules and regulations… something so out dated that it no longer fits into a modern lifestyle… something that dishes out guilt, whether from religious expectations or the guilt of unfinished projects. That is not how I see it. The Sabbath is not meant to be a burden. It is meant to be a day of rest.

I am grateful for the opportunity to honor the Sabbath and to keep it holy. I am grateful for a day of rest, of worship, of family time.

I am like every person a I know, with a long list of “to-dos” that will most likely never get done. It would be so easy to be convinced that if I “waste” a day on rest and worship that my entire life would fall apart. I have found the opposite to be true. Rather than spending the day organizing, cleaning, cooking, writing, planning, grading, etc., I am grateful that I can spend my day in my scriptures, chilling with family, resting, and finding joy in simple things. I am grateful for the time spent listening to music from around the world, for a family meal at the table, for Sacrament meeting at home, and phone calls from family. The Sabbath really is a generous gift, offered to me to rejuvenate my body and souls and to improve my health, wholeness and joy.

Today I am also grateful for a visit from my daughter, Hannah. I’ve missed her and the joy for life that oozes out of her. I am grateful Ibruprophen too. I have got a whopper of a headache… and muscle aches from working in the attic yesterday. I am so grateful for a little something that takes the edge off the throbbing in my head. I loved the Primary program today. I am grateful for the Primary children in my ward and for their families that helped them share their feelings about the Savior with the ward today. I am grateful for the opportunity to get in bed early and to rest… hopefully, I will feel a little better tomorrow.

I, too, love the Sabbath. Tonight our stake had a devotional that was Pre-recorded and virtual. The talks and music were great.
