I would like to share with you an acronym that I created for my patients who are dealing with the effects of a toxic relationship. This acronym is a reminder to not form an attachment to an unhealthy bond by giving it your time and energy. The relationship can be a romantic one, a friendship or familial one. Through the process of therapy, my patients learn to identify these toxic relationships. They learn coping mechanisms and defense strategies. This acronym serves as a reminder for them to focus on their well being. Every moment we have the opportunity to change the direction of our lives. My Grandpa tells me stories
I think they’re sometimes lies.
He tells me he bakes cookies
And mixes in dead flies.
He tells me he’s a psychic,
That he reads Grandma’s mind—
But “All her thoughts are empty
There’s nothing there to find!”
My Grandpa tells me stories
And lots of them aren’t true.
He told me when he was a kid
He ate a horse’s poo.
He told me he’s a ninja
And saves the world from crime
He said “I’d give more details—
But oops!
We’re out of time!”
Today I decided to be brave and enter my daughter's room and clean it. She is off on a family adventure with her brother. But her room could really use some TLC. So far I've done 3 loads of laundry.
