With the past 48 or so days of looking each day for the blessings (large and small) in my life I have increased my understanding of how God works miracles in our lives.
First observation – People who love what they have are happy. They see the beauty in what the have. They keep life simple. They don’t need to “de-clutter” because they were selection when they bought “new” stuff. People who love what they have take care of their stuff. They get the most out of what they have.
I’ve been thinking about how I can save some money this year. It occurred to me that it really starts with taking a careful look at what I have already and admiring it. I starts with taking better care of what I do have.
So… today I am thankful for:
My truck. I could do better at taking care of it. But I do love driving it. I love that it helps me haul stuff. I love that I don’t feel like a sardine while sitting in it.
John’s car. I love that I was able to shop smart and to find a car that works well for his driving needs. I am thankful that it is a hybrid and that saves on gas money.
My yard. I love all the plants and flowers and bushes and things. I love that my friend, Ethan Davis helped me put in a new paver walk way before he went on a mission. I look forward to caring for the yard more this year. I’d love to put down some hog fuel to cut down the mud. I am looking forward to putting a roof over my deck and changing up the layout of the backyard this spring. I hope we can get to that.
My garden. I love that every year we plant some veggies. I love that it produces some yummy things. It is my goal this year to take better care of the garden this year.
My wind chimes. As I walked out of the house today there was a slight breeze pushing the wind chimes and making them sing. I am thankful for the calming influence of the chimes song. I should hang out around them more.
So, there it is… a few things to be thankful for and to commit to taking better care of… goals.
What are you grateful for today?
May I ask how the new chime meshes with the long timers? Pray tell.
I needed this. Thanks and love you.
