Today I am grateful for Sabbath activities.
Today I am grateful for Lilli’s enthusiasm regarding her new fish… a shrimp she named Barry after Barry Allen, the Flash, a black gold fish named Bruce after Bruce Wayne, Bateman, and Richie after Richard, Robin. It’s fun her hear her excitably share.
Today I am grateful that John got on the step ladder to put tacks on the LED strip lights in the living room. The sticky tape on the back wasn’t working to keep them on the wall. I like how much light it gives the room. It was just a pain in the butt to keep them on the wall and useful.
Today I am grateful a yummy meal of salmon, a piece of provolone cheese, baby bok choy, broccoli, applesauce and peanut butter mousse.
Super tasty.
Today’s quote from A Year of Positive Thinking by Cyndie Spiegel reminded me to take initiative for my own happiness. “Don’t wait around for other people to be happy for you. Any happiness you get you’ve got to make yourself. – Alice Walker.” This is a good reminder that happiness is a choice. A situation might suck, but I get to choose how I react to that situation.
Perhaps the best way to find happiness is to think less… to slow down. Breathe. Most of the time we think too much. Breathe. Breathing helps us to be in touch with life in the present moment.
Thinking through things is important. However, much of our thinking is useless. Thinks. So many thinks. Sometimes its hard to turn off. But hit the STOP button. Breathe… in… out… in… out…
Breathing refreshes us. We recover. In the present moment we begin to see beauty in the moment. The past is gone, the future is not yet. Breathing helps us to cherish and protect moments.
Breathe.
Today I am grateful for blogging… a great opportunity to take a breath, drink in the moment, and breathe.
What are you grateful for today?
