#gratitude, gratitude

An Attitude of Gratitude Experiment 2.0 Day 136

Today was a long day, but a good day. I was at the high school bright and early to help students with pageant. So much to do! Today I am grateful I had the opportunity to witness them rise to the occasion. I am proud of the students who did their best to help those who are in need with this school tradition fundraiser. I am grateful for the judges who came to help. I am grateful for the staff members who stepped up to help. I am grateful for the theater kids who volunteered at the last minute to be crew. I am grateful that the student director was able to make good decisions when needed and that she was able to keep her cool when things were rough.

Today my prayer study focused on my neighbors. Mark chapter two teaches that the first two great commandments – “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind an with all your strength.” and adding to that, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” It has come to me that loving God and loving His children are inseparable. I know some of my neighbors, but I live next to an apartment building with college students who move in and out. I started with writing the names of my neighbors on a stick note in the morning and prayed that God would help them. I also ask Him to help those I don’t know too. In the afternoon I prayed that God would help them meet my neighbors physical needs of food, shelter, clean water, a job, etc. This evening I prayed that God would help meet their emotional and spiritual needs. Through this experience I realized that I need to get out and meet my neighbors more.

Today I am grateful I was able to help meet the needs of others through working on pageant. The money they raised is going to be donated to the Oregon Relief Fund.

Today I am grateful for Lilli. I am super proud of her. She did a good job on her responsibilities with Pageant. Her dance was amazing. Her letter was sweet. She contributed double the amount of money of the contestant below her. She was a good friend to others. One of my favorite moments was when she turned to help the boy next to her put his cape back on. Then her cape just fell off and she just had to gather it up and hold it. She was so kind. She was so poised. I am so very proud of her.

Today I am grateful for the shade John put up. It is forecast to be very warm tomorrow.
