What Have You Postponed? Choosing Faith Over Fear ❤️

Is there something you’ve been putting off?

Maybe it’s a conversation you’ve been avoiding because you don’t know how the other person will respond.

Maybe it’s an application you haven’t submitted because you’re afraid you won’t be chosen.

Maybe it’s a creative project you’ve dreamed about for years, but the fear of failure keeps whispering, “What if you’re not good enough?”

Perhaps it’s an apology you know you need to make.

Or maybe it’s an entirely new beginning—a chapter of life you feel called to enter, but you’re afraid to take the first step.

What if the thing standing between you and your next chapter isn’t a lack of opportunity, but fear?

Sometimes Fear Disguises Itself as Waiting

We often tell ourselves we’re waiting for the right time. When life settles down. When we feel more confident. When we have all the answers. When we’re certain everything will work out. But sometimes waiting isn’t about timing. Sometimes it’s about being afraid of what might happen if we try. Fear can make familiar circumstances feel safer than the possibilities waiting beyond them. And while patience is sometimes wise, we must be careful not to confuse patience with avoidance.

Not every delay is a sign from God to wait. Sometimes we simply need the courage to move.

Faith Doesn’t Require the Absence of Fear

One of the most encouraging truths about faith is that we don’t have to feel fearless to trust God. We can be nervous and still take the step. We can be uncertain and still move forward. We can have questions and still believe God will guide us.

Proverbs 3:5–6 reminds us:

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” (KJV)

Notice that we’re not promised an explanation for every detail of the journey. We’re invited to trust.

That doesn’t mean making reckless decisions or ignoring wise counsel. It means praying, seeking wisdom, doing what we reasonably can to prepare, and refusing to let fear alone determine our choices.

Sometimes faith looks like a giant leap. But more often, it looks like one small, courageous step.

What Would You Do If You Trusted God More Than Your Fear?

Take a moment and ask yourself that question.

Would you finally have the conversation?

Would you submit the application?

Would you begin writing the book, painting the picture, or building the dream?

Would you offer the apology, even if you couldn’t control the response?

Would you give yourself permission to begin again?

You don’t have to accomplish everything today.

You simply have to consider what the next faithful step might be.

Maybe it’s making a phone call, writing the first paragraph, filling out the first page of an application, or spending a few quiet moments in prayer.

Small steps matter. And sometimes those small steps lead us toward the very growth we’ve been praying for.

Don’t Let Fear Write Your Next Chapter

The truth is, none of us knows exactly what tomorrow holds.

Some things we try won’t work out the way we hope. Some conversations will be difficult. Some opportunities won’t open. But even when the outcome is uncertain, taking a thoughtful step forward can help us grow.

A closed door doesn’t mean you’re a failure. A difficult conversation doesn’t mean you were wrong to try. And a new beginning doesn’t have to be perfect to be worthwhile.

God can work through our courage, our mistakes, our lessons, and our willingness to keep growing. So today, think about that one thing you’ve been postponing.

Pray about it.

Seek wisdom where you need it.

And if the next step is right, don’t wait for every trace of fear to disappear.

Your fear may have a voice, but it doesn’t have to make the final decision.

A Simple Prayer

Heavenly Father, You know the things I’ve been putting off and the fears I’ve been carrying. Give me wisdom to recognize when I should wait and courage to move when it’s time. Help me trust Your guidance more than my worries. Remind me that I don’t need every answer before taking the next faithful step. Lead me with Your peace, strengthen my heart, and help me walk forward in faith.

❤️ One Question to Carry With You Today

What is one thing I would finally begin if I trusted God more than I trusted my fear?

Maybe today is the day you take that first step.

Because choosing your best life doesn’t mean living without fear. It means refusing to let fear keep you from the life God is calling you to live.
