Today has been a good day.
Today I am thankful that I got to start my day with a few minutes in my scriptures. I am going slowly through Moroni 7. So many deep gems in these verses! Today I studied about the Light of Christ and how we all are given the Light of Christ. It is the spirit of light and truth that leads people to do good things, to be kind, and especially to find the gospel. It is the light that gives life. It is the light that quickens the understanding of men. It is a deep subject. Today I am grateful for the realization that the Light of Christ is the power that ties us all together… connects us as humanity.
Today I am grateful for Zoom. I got to use Zoom to teach today, instead of Google Meet. It’s a miracle! It is so much easier to teach! Most of my students were able to connect easier too.
Today I am grateful for opportunities to serve. For the past couple of days I have headed to the Ag/shop area of my school and helped the Ag and shop teachers pack food for charities. On a normal year, the kids in their classes, plus a few other teachers who might bring a class down to help, pack thousands of pounds of food that is donated to help families in need. This year, students are not allowed on campus. The local fire department, a few officers, a few people from the around the district and a few members of our staff have been there to help. I am a little sad about it. Many lament that they worry about these students who won’t have services over the Christmas break, but many of these same people do not come down to help. I feel strongly that if you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem. I believe I need to “put my money where my mouth is” and get dirty. Let me tell you. I get dirty. My hands are pretty nasty after 2 hours of packing apples yesterday and 2 hours of pack parsnips today. I will go back tomorrow after all my afternoon meeting. I hope I get to pack onions. They moved the onions into the shop today and it smelled so good! Today I am also grateful for food and for living in an area can grow food. I am grateful for farmers who donate thousands of pound of produce for this program, Food For All.
Today I am grateful that Lilli had a good day and even happily got homework done. It isn’t ever day I come home and she is that cheerful. 🙂
Today I am grateful the simple dinner we had. I used the eggs from our chickens and some bell peppers, 1/2 a red onion and some turkey sausage and made a yummy “breakfast”. It hit the spot after a good day of intermittent fasting.
Today I am grateful for the opportunity to get an early bed time! Tomorrow I need to leave the house early and head to the orthodontist for my next installment of braces. I’m not sure when I will get to eat now soft foods again. My teeth are still sore from getting spacer!
What are you grateful for today?
