Adulting 101 – Remembering Bob the Builder – Basic Home Repair Tools

Hoping to help build stronger adults! Especially my own kids!

I spend my days teaching kids the basics of simple home repair tools.  You would be surprised how many teens and young adults don’t have the first idea of how to use a hammer, a drill, or even, to measure something with a tape measure.  I believe firmly that ever young adult should be able to swing a hammer, use a drill/driver, hang a picture with and anchor bolt or by finding a stud, and use a saw.

These are basic tools ever household should have and every young adult should be able to use.

You will be far more successful in any home repair project if you have the right tool and know how to use it.

The first thing you need to consider is quality… buy a good quality tool.  High-quality tools are not only safer to use, but most will last a long time when they are…

Holiday Eating Success!

What’s for dinner at your house?

wboyack's avatarResigning as the General Manager of the Universe

Christmas and New Year have come and gone and I feel like I weathered the holiday eating very well!  I didn’t binge on sugars and fats.  I tried to be mindful of the food I ate and tried to choose foods that were high in nutrition.

The food I made for Christmas Eve and for Christmas lasted me nearly the whole week.  It was Friday before I ran out of leftovers and needed to make more food for myself.  🙂

I made Pumpkin Soup for Christmas Eve.  Click here for the recipe.

For Christmas dinner I made traditional foods for the family… a pork roast, mashed potatoes, rolls, and pie.  I made more veggie based foods for myself.

I made a lovely green salad…

The Gift of Repentance – The Parable of the Pen and Shane the Sheep

I wrote this blog last week… a parable. Please give the Parable of the Pen a look!

wboyack's avatarResigning as the General Manager of the Universe

Today I gave a talk in Sacrament Meeting today.  Here it is in all it’s glory…

To introduce my subject I decided to write a parable… the Parable of the Pen… and Shane the Sheep (no relation to Shawn the Sheep).

As inspiration for this parable I look to John chapter 10 where Jesus makes it clear that He is The Good Shepherd.  Jesus refers to people as sheep.  He teaches how sheep should act and describes some of the dangers to the flock that lurk in the spacious field.  He labels us as His sheep in His fold.

Admittedly, I do not know much about sheep first hand.  I do have experience with goat.  I worked with goats as a youth.  Goats stink!  They are gross.  I see sheep in the fields around my house.  They look fairly dirty and I imagine that they are just as dirty and…

Beginning a New Year – It’s a Zoo!

We began 2018 by celebrating with friends... ... and family. I delivered a back drop that Hannah and I painted and picked up some things we are borrowing for Lion King, JR.  I felt like I was driving down the road with a zoo!  Those are the Rhinos and giraffes behind me.  LOL. I am… Continue reading Beginning a New Year – It’s a Zoo!

#bethelight – Day 68

This morning I've been thinking about the song "Scatter Sunshine." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tufsLC_GtcU This is exactly what #bethelight is all about! The first verse: In a world where sorrow ever will be known Where are found the needy and the sad and lone,  How much joy and comfort you call all bestow,  If you scatter sunshine everywhere… Continue reading #bethelight – Day 68

#bethelight – Day 67

Yesterday and today I worked on being inspiring.  Not sure I succeeded.  At least I tried. Today I worked on the show I've been working on at the high school.  I was gone all day.  I'm tired.  I didn't have time to write this morning, so I write now... at 11:00 at night... Today I… Continue reading #bethelight – Day 67

#bethelight – Day 66

This smiling girl was the recipient of yesterday's act of kindness... look at that smile!  And this was before I left a tip.  LOL. It was fun to see her face light up when I left the tip and drove away.  It was so worth it! Today I've been thinking about the things that inspire… Continue reading #bethelight – Day 66

Singin’ in the Rain Drops

I was given the opportunity to paint a back drop for Howard Street Middle School for their production of Singin' in the Rain. I went over to their school and picked up 8-10 flats.  I primed the flats to cover the multiple layers of other paint from past shows. I drew out a basic design...… Continue reading Singin’ in the Rain Drops

#bethelight – Day 65

300 to go... Yesterday was a great day!  It was busy!  It was long.  However, as I looked for the bright side of everything, I learned that I was having a fun day.  I hope I was dragging others along for the ride. I started my day by writing my blog and billing out some… Continue reading #bethelight – Day 65
