Satisfaction Saturday

Satisfying Hard Work

I am feeling very satisfied with the hard working, giving spirit of the kids and family members that came to work on the set over this Labor Day weekend.  While others were spending time playing, these awesome people labored! Hardworking students really is an endangered species in today's environment.  I am blessed to have a… Continue reading Satisfying Hard Work

Last Week of Summer

We have reached the end of summer... a little bitter sweet.  Summer was too short.  New chapters are always exciting. To celebrate, Lillian went to the beach with her youth group.  We haven't been able to break away from life and get to the beach much this year.  I am so glad that she got… Continue reading Last Week of Summer

#bethelight – Day 297

Today I attended an Eagle Court of Honor for a young man I greatly admire.  I was impressed with the number of people there to support him and the number of people he credited with helping him along his journey.  These caring adults willingly gave up their time to help him, and many other young… Continue reading #bethelight – Day 297

#bethelight – Day 294, 295, 296

Holy cow!  I'm back at my crazy long days.  The past 2 days I've been working hard at school getting ready for the school year.  As I am not the teacher of record, the fact that I am cleaning, organizing and heading to the dump with random things from the stage space is helping my… Continue reading #bethelight – Day 294, 295, 296

#bethelight – Day 293

Today was a busy day with some work at the high school,  lessons, and rehearsal.  However, my daughter texted me, feeling exhausted and overwhelmed.  So I took an hour and went and did her dishes.  Sometimes a girl needs her mom, even if she is a mom herself.

News flash: teachers can't help kids learn if kids are not in class. I know there are all kinds of reasons for why kids aren't getting to… Continue reading A Few Simple Ways Parent Involvement Can Help Increase Student Attendance at School

Menu Monday

Veggies and more veggies

It's been a good week for veggie eating. Monday I had a dentist appointment and my face was numb for half the day.  Jamba Juice to the rescue!  I had a Greens with added ginger smoothie.  When my face woke up I had a veggie dog... plain.  Dinner was a cabbage from the garden with… Continue reading Veggies and more veggies

#bethelight – Day 291-292

Yesterday and today I worked at my school without pay.  I made sure tech worked for their meetings and Professional Development sessions.  I do it because I want to make a difference... okay... and I don't want to spend hours trying to figure it what went wrong when I'm not there.  I was struck with… Continue reading #bethelight – Day 291-292

Theatre Thursday

Retaining the Life Blood of Volunteers

Nearly all of the organizations I occupy myself, survive because of the generosity of volunteers.  Whether I am working in a theatre setting or a school setting, volunteers play a pivotal role in the success of the project.  However, some of the places I volunteer and work at are losing qualified, creative, seasoned, and hard… Continue reading Retaining the Life Blood of Volunteers

#bethelight – day 290

I do love the Sabbath.  It is a blessing.  I believe the greatest kindness we can extend on the Sabbath is to devote our time to serving God and His children.  Today that service was sharing a testimony; teaching a class; listening to a story; serving my family; spending time contemplating the greatness of God. … Continue reading #bethelight – day 290
