A Warrior Spreads Light

I am sure you have noticed… We live in a fallen and broken world. Isn’t it enough that many are suffering from natural disasters, the effects of crime, homelessness, broken homes, hunger, and despair? Do we seriously need to heap all kinds of unnecessary unkindness on each other? Is is necessary to go out of our way to be rude?

Two years ago, in November, my daughter started a kindness campaign in school. She made posters. She got friends together to make encouraging notes and placed them on random lockers. She and her friends made a huge effort to do something kind every day.

There is a need for more kindness,

I have been obsessing about this idea of kindness for days. I even have written multiple blogs on being kind, and spreading light to others. In my blog This Little Light of Mine I mentioned the need to spread light.

A WARRIOR IS A CHAMPION OF LIGHT!

It’s one thing to write about being nice. It’s a whole new ball game to DO something about it.

November is often a month where people publicly declare their gratitude. December is a month where many people go out of their way to be kind. Even my church starts a #Lighttheworld campaign in December. I just knew that it had to be more to chase the shadows of discouragement and sadness from the world.

I want to spread kindness and light all over the internet. I want to spread kindness and light throughout my home. I want to spread kindness and light throughout my community. Why not start a campaign of kindness, a campaign to spread light everyday for 365 days… a whole year.

We can change the world, one act of kindness at a time. Okay… maybe not the whole world, but we can change someone’s world. We can make someone’s day better. We can spread light in our communities. We can fill our homes with love and with kindness and with light. Every little act of kindness – act of light matters.

I have been changed by random acts of strangers. Hard days, rough times, and tough times and turned on their heads because someone chose kindness. Kindness has made happy times even happier! One act of kindness has spread light and chased darkness away and my heart lifted.

So… today… this General Manager of the Universe will not resign an activity. Today she will be picking one up. Today she will pick up a new torch, fan a new flame, and begin a campaign to carry light to the world every day for 365 days.

That’s right. For 365 days I want to go out of my way to be kind. Every. Day. I want to live a life fueled by love. Every day I want to choose intentional, unselfish acts of love.

I’m not saying that spreading light and kindness requires me to be the next Mother Teresa or Mahatma Gandhi. It doesn’t have to be something big. Small acts… small lights can make BIG impacts in those dealing in darkness and despair.

Every day I want to make someone’s day BETTER! Flip the script. Live a life fueled by love and service. As I do I know I will find that there is no more room in my life for darkness, despair, bitterness, rage, and lack of forgiveness.
